Southwest needs to find a way to get west coast travelers to the Caribbean. Most flights cannot be made on the outbound flight with the time difference you cannot make the connecting flight on the east coast. Need a red eye from west coast t9 east coast so you can catch departures on the east coast to Caribbean.

I agree with @Rich but Midwest and East Coast passengers also have these same issues going to Hawaii on Southwest. The connections, typically, aren’t great.

I doubt SW will do anything to accommodate west coast travelers to travel to Caribbean. Most of the east coast folks travel to Caribbean while west coast folks will travel to Hawaii. The market to take care of west coast people to Caribbean isn’t there so not worth while to expend the resources for such an accommodation.

I get the impression that Southwest doesn’t want the connecting traffic from the east coast to Hawaii/west coast to Caribbean. If they did, they’d schedule for it. The margins must not be the best.
